Volkswagen AG is the largest carmaker in Europe and after Toyota and General Motors, the third largest worldwide. Volkswagen AG owns the brands Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, Bugatti, Seat, and Scania Scoda. In addition to the production car, VW is also working with financial and logistic services.

The foundation goes back to the request of Adolf Hitler for an automobile design for many levels. Responsible for the project was the "Society for the preparation of the German People's Car" Ltd, which was renamed in 1938 to Volkswagen GmbH. The proposed vehicle was delivered but never used, as technology co-developed by Porsche during the war was used in tubs or amphibious vehicles of the Armed Forces. After the war ended, the Volkswagen plant went to the military government of the British zone of occupation and was operated as Wolfsburg Motor Works.

In 1949, the company was handed over to the State of Lower Saxony and renamed the company was renamed Volkswagenwerk GmbH. In 1960, the Bundestag decided to privatize the company and from then on it served as the VW-Volkswagen.

In May 1973, the first front-wheel drive, water cooled Passat went off the line. A year later, the Scirocco and Golf, which were soon to become the best-selling VWs, were off the line. In 1998, audiences were presented with the New Beetle. While this style was first sold in 1946, it is still celebrated and loved, mainly in the U.S., and considered an icon by many even to this day.

Has Your VW Auto Warranty Expired or is it About to Expire?

Every new Volkswagen owner gets a new Wear Item Limited Warranty that lasts 3 years / 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This usually covers items that might have been considered a defect by the manufacturer or parts that might have been labeled as insufficient. Items that have been labeled as “wear and tear” are excluded after a 1 year / 12,000, whichever comes first.

The Powertrain Limited Warranty on new vehicles last for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever is hit first. This is one of the best warranty plans in the business but this isn’t the only thing that VW offers. They have a 12-year Corrosion Warranty with no mileage limit as well as Roadside Assistance.

Your Seat Belt Lifetime Warranty is also in effect as soon as you drive off the lot as well. Many car manufacturers put this into effect at the turn of the millennium because of safety concerns. They will even repair older models as well for free or for a discount. Be sure to contact your local dealer for details.

Why Extend Your VW Auto Warranty?

While VW is well-known for their VW Bug, even the Bug’s warranty comes to an end after 3 years. Lack of coverage can translate into high repair bills the first time you need to take your VW into the shop. While regular maintenance can deter large scale repairs, chances are good that at some point in time, after the manufacturer’s warranty is expired, you will need to have something major fixed. Fortunately, there is a way to avoid high repair costs once your manufacturer’s car warranty expires.

A vehicle protection contract (formerly called an extended auto warranty) can extend the general warranty with either the same, or similar, coverage as was offered originally. In particular, wrap vehicle protection contracts can support your lingering powertrain warranty by covering the remaining ¾ of your VW components that the powertrain warranty does not include.

Vehicle protection contracts are key to helping lower repair costs, and often your new protection contract pays for itself after just one major repair. Here at Vehicle Protection Headquarters, we aim to help you save the most you can, while also providing high quality protection contracts as well. We work hard to provide the best coverage with the most reliable service, getting your claim settled with as little hassle as possible for you.
